The Irish Research Council for the Humanities and Social Sciences (IRCHSS) is responsible for Ireland's national strategic programme for research in the humanities and social sciences. Its mission includes encouraging excellence and the highest standards in research; promoting interdisciplinary, inter-faculty and inter-institutional programme collaboration; encouraging co-operation between the humanities and social sciences and contributing to the development of policy on research in the humanities and social sciences. It operates a number of research schemes which fund research at pre- and postdoctoral levels, world class innovative research and long-term research programmes.
