NORFACE Organisation Structure

Four bodies, each with different responsibilities, manage the NORFACE network: the Network Board (NB), the International Advisory Panel (IAP), the Management Team (MT), and the Co-ordination Office (CO).

The NORFACE network is led and overseen on behalf of all the partners by a Network Board (NB). The Board consists of one representative from each partner Council. The Board is the high level decision making body of the network and is responsible for decisions on all strategic issues. It will meet at least twice a year. The International Advisory Panel (IAP) provides independent scientific and policy advice for the network. It consists of 13 members who are leading scientific experts or representatives of the user community. The IAP produces a formal report each year, which is published on the NORFACE web site. The NORFACE Management Team (MT) is chaired and supported by the co-ordinator and the joint secretariat. The MT consists of one staff member from each partner, the person responsible for the implementation of the NORFACE network at the partner council. Led by Ms Ervelä-Myréen, the MT is the forum for joint consideration of the implementation and management of the network, including decisions related to preparation, organisation, public relations, reporting and follow up action. To view a list of the MT members, click on the 'Management Team' in the left hand column.

The network is co-ordinated on a day to day basis and supported centrally by a Co-ordination Office (CO) established at the co-ordinating partner, the Academy of Finland. The joint secretariat has overall responsibility for the legal, contractual, financial and administrative management of the project. The joint secretariat is led by the co-ordinator of the network, Ms Eili Ervelä-Myréen.
