The Swedish Research Council

The Swedish Research Council, Scientific Council for Humanities and Social Sciences has national responsibility for developing basic research in all fields of social science. Its three main tasks are to promote basic research of international quality; to develop science communication including making research and research findings accessible to specialists and to the general public; and to analyse and evaluate Swedish research and research policy. While most projects are initiated by researchers, the Council also allocates funds for the development of areas judged to be of special importance from either the perspective of society or of research itself.
